Stormfield :: Swordplay

This growling beast of a half/double tempo mix was done live and unplanned in one take, using loops and tracks chopped, mangled, dubbed-out then spat back out of a laptop. It nods respectfully to the eerie, techy drum n bass tracks from 10 years back that have been hugely influential to Combat Recordings, such as early Photek, while splicing them them with recent outbursts of industrial dub, hyper-edited obtuse hip hop, sheets of searing distortion and high-pressure junglism. Bassdrums rumble like landmines while snares slash like flying shrapnel. Big-ups to the old skool junglist vibes of the Czech Republic and the techniques of Cybank and Coldcut that inspired this mix. Some tracks have been played heavily during the recent Combat mini-tour in the Czech Republic.
